What vial sizes are compatible with the 15-425 screw caps?

The 15-425 thread is a standard GPI (Glass Packaging Institute) finish typically used for wide-opening storage vials. It is the standard closure for 4mL (13x45mm), 8mL (17x60mm), and 12mL (19x65mm) vials, such as the V1217 and V1237 series.

What are the advantages of PTFE/Silicone septa over Butyl septa?

PTFE/Silicone is the gold standard for analytical purity; the PTFE layer provides an inert barrier against aggressive solvents, while the silicone offers excellent resealability. Butyl septa (SC-B16152) are more cost-effective and provide a better gas-tight seal for atmospheric sensitive samples but have lower chemical resistance.

When should I choose a "Pre-slit" septa (SC151151-PS)?

Pre-slit septa are designed for autosamplers with thin or fragile needles. They prevent the formation of a vacuum inside the vial during aspiration and reduce the risk of "coring" (where a piece of the septa is pushed into the sample).

Can these 15-425 caps be used for medical or clinical diagnostic applications?

No. These products are manufactured strictly for analytical laboratory research and industrial use. They do not meet the regulatory certifications required for medical, clinical, or human-injectable diagnostic procedures.

What is the difference between Open-Top and Closed-Top (Solid) caps?

Open-Top caps (C151) feature a 9mm center hole, allowing for needle penetration without removing the cap, ideal for HPLC/GC. Closed-Top (Solid) caps (C152) are designed for long-term sample storage, transport, and preventing any potential evaporation of volatile compounds.
